The vitality of our Christian faith
is stimulated by the outward reminders which we see within the confines
of our church—its Christian symbols. Every aspect of the Church
and its furnishings has a religious and spiritual message for those
who understand its language. Our Ecclesiastical Church Year is divided
into a number of Seasons, Festivals and Days, each symbolized by
a specific color. The colors of the paraments used during our services
and their symbolic importance are as follows:

Meaning: The Godhead, light, joy, peace, purity, heaven
Used at: Christmas, Easter, Ascension Day, Epiphany,
and Trinity |

Meaning: The Holy Ghost, zeal, fire, martyrdom
Used at: Pentecost, Reformation,
Thanksgiving and Saints’ Day |

Meaning: Penitence
Used at: Lent |
 |
|
Meaning: Penitence
Used at: Advent |
 |

Meaning: Growth in Christian Life
Used at: The Sundays after Trinity |
 |
|
Meaning: Deep mourning
Used at: Good Friday |
